Huaqiao University (HQU) was established by the Chinese central government in 1960. By adhering to the philosophy of “integrating Chinese wisdom and foreign expertise, unifying moral character and professional excellence”, and with strong commitment to serving foreign affairs and overseas Chinese affairs of China. 

The university has two campuses in Quanzhou and Xiamen, the Nanyang College in Singapore, the Overseas Chinese Education Base in Barcelona, the Confucius Institute in Bangkok, Phuket, Vienna and other places, and 77 offices or admissions offices in five continents around the world.
